Medium bodied, really juicy red fruit and cranberry characters with hints of herbs and spice, light dusty tannins.Brightly coloured with elegant aromas of red fruit. Juicy and fresh on the palate.

Bodegas Pittacum was purchased several years ago by Terras Gauda who were looking to find a red wine with distinctive personality. The winery is located in Arganza, a town of longstanding vine-growing and wine-making heritage, nestled in the beautifully hilly landscape of the Bierzo region. Since Pittacum first opened for business it has had a clear mission: to create wines with personality, which - without losing sight of the hallmark features of the Mencia variety and the local area and the climate - bear a unique stamp.

Mild, calm and rather temperate climate. Its low altitude prevents late frosts on the whole which makes it mild enough for early grape harvesting. Grown in small parcels planted with century old vines dotting the slopes of the mountain ring that comprises the wine growing region of Bierzo. The Petit grapes are grown in cooler clayish soils found in the sharp east and north facing slopes of the mountain range, on land that reflects with greater accuracy the purest style of the Atlantic Region.
